1&1 Reports Surge in .us Domains.

1&1 Internet, Inc., a web hosting company declares a 12 percent increase in .us domain name registrations. The company reasons that business owners are looking for a way to create simple, easy to remember domain names.
"1&1's goal has always been to provide the latest tools to achieve a successful Web presence," Andreas Gauger,1&1's chairman of the board, said in a statement issued to the media. "While the choice of available .com domains becomes more and more restricted, a .us domain can be a better alternative to a lengthy and hard to remember .com domain. It is widely accepted by U.S. Web users and still has a lot of name space to conquer. That's why the .us domain allows a Web identity with maximum potential."
