.SE Launches DNS Security Extensions.
2007-02-16, HostMan.biz Presents .SE-DNSSEC, the world's first commercial service with DNS Security Extensions for cryptographically signed name resolving. .SE, the foundation responsible for the Swedish top-level domain, today launched .SE-DNSSEC, the world's first commercial service with DNS Security Extensions (DNSSEC) for cryptographically signed name resolving in the domain name system. .SE-DNSSEC is sold as an added service to .SE's domain names. As part of the service, .SE gives its customers the opportunity to administrate and publish their DNSSEC key in the .se zone and that .SE vows for them. The customer then administrates its own DNSSEC keys and uses them to sign their own DNS data. The service can currently be ordered through five .SE registrars, Frobbit, FS Data, Loopia, Neware och Yask. As the scope of the service differs between registrars, also prices might differ. The annual fee after the first year is 250 SEK per domain name, exclusive of VAT. The Swedish National Post and Telecom Agency, which according to the Swedish law of top-level domains supervises .SE, welcomes the new service. "We are proud to be in the forefront in the world in the field of safer name resolving on the Internet. .SE-DNSSEC is an important step towards a secure and safe Internet environment. However, it is important to point out that DNSSEC does not stop all types of Internet fraud, but only that related to DNS," said Staffan Hagnell, responsible for DNSSEC at .SE. |
