The UltraSparc T1 processor has eight cores, each with four independent threads, providing a total of 32 processing elements per processor. The new server deployment enables a larger pool of processing capacity.
XO says the CPU resource usage for Concentric customers is continually increasing as customers deploy new business productivity and communication applications, and enhance their traditional static Web sites with dynamic and collaborative content. XO says that by adding significant processing capacity without increasing power consumption via its Concentric Clustered Web Hosting platform, it can meet customer demands in both an economically and environmentally friendly way.
"We believe the Sun Fire T2000 servers with CoolThreads technology are a perfect match for XO's high performance Concentric Web hosting platform," says Warren Mootrey, senior director for Sun's volume SPARC servers.
