1&1 Named As Most Reliable Web Host In August 2006.
2006-09-08, HostMan.biz Netcraft, a web analyst, that monitors web hosts' uptime and reliability has announced that that 1&1 is the most reliable web hostng company in August 2006. 1&1 is also crowned as the world's largest web host. The other pointed among best performers are Rackspace and New York Internet. The home pages for companies mentioned above were perfect for the month, with no downtime and no failed requests. The information comes from Netcraft's month's leaderboard that provides an interesting contrast, demonstrating that hosting customers can find good network connectivity at either end of the hosting spectrum. 1&1 is one of the cheapest providers that offer shared web hosting accounts, while New York Internet and Rackspace are managed hosting specialists that provide custom pricing. Rackspace has been named as the most reliable web host four times ñõ 2006, while NYI has led the list or tied for first on three occasions. Seven of top 10 reliable hosters run their web sites on Linux, while two use FreeBSD, and one Windows Server 2003. Netcraft measures and makes available the response times of fifty leading hosting providers' sites. The performance measurements are made at fifteen minute intervals from separate points around the internet, and averages are calculated over the immediately preceding 24 hour period. The web analysts exlplains that from a customers’ point of view, the percentage of failed requests is more pertinent than outages on the hosting companies' own sites, as this gives a pointer to reliability of routing, and this is why we choose to rank our table by fewest failed requests, rather than shortest periods of outage. |
