Digital Realty Trust Expands Deal.
2006-08-23, HostMan.biz Digital Realty Trust, Inc. , and PalmettoNet, Inc., have signed an agreement that significantly expands PalmettoNet's space in Digital Realty Trust's 125 N. Myers Street datacenter facility in Charlotte, North Carolina. PalmettoNet owns and operates a network fabric of more than 3,100 miles of fiber throughout the Carolinas, and serves the broadband requirements of prominent telecommunications carriers in the region. The agreement expands PalmettoNet's space in 125 N. Myers Street, providing PalmettoNet with facilities to house both a corporate datacenter and a sales operations office. Through this agreement, PalmettoNet has also become the first tenant in 113 N. Myers Street's new Meet Me Room. Digital Realty Trust Meet Me Rooms allow telecom carriers and network service providers to cost-effectively cross connect their networks to support the buying, selling and sharing of bandwidth -- providing tenants connectivity to other carriers and collocation customers with no cross connection fees. "By expanding our presence in 125 N. Myers Street and in the 113 N. Myers Street Meet Me Room, PalmettoNet has secured facilities that will allow us to fully support the steadily growing demand for our fiber optic network services," said Vernon Williams, General Manager of PalmettoNet. "Digital Realty Trust's facility is the ideal environment to support our technical operations because of the advanced technical features of the building. The space allows us to have a datacenter, Meet Me Room connections and sales operations in a single, integrated location -- which is an optimum arrangement to support our customers." 125 N. Myers Street is a state-of-the-art 27,600 square foot facility with features and specifications that meet the advanced technical requirements of corporate data centers and telecommunications network infrastructure. The building serves as a primary fiber hub for downtown Charlotte, and the building's technical features include redundant power supplies, raised floor construction, high-load floor construction and advanced physical security.
