RampRate Expands Board of Advisors.
2006-08-22, HostMan.biz IT sourcing advisor RampRate Inc. today named Curt Hessler to its board of advisors. Hessler brings more than 30 years of corporate IT leadership, with extensive legal, governmental and operational background in mergers and acquisitions, finance and strategic development. "Having Curt, with his wide-ranging experience running major companies, as an advisor is invaluable as we aggressively grow RampRate and extend its reach into new industries," said RampRate CEO Tony Greenberg. "RampRate helps clients make great sourcing decisions fast, based on their own business needs and priorities. Curt's expertise and relationships will help RampRate expand further into publishing and other verticals. He'll also help us keep an eye on important issues such as Net neutrality, antitrust concerns and the many changes in the telecom business." Hessler, a former Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Economic Policy, is currently an adjunct professor at UCLA Law School. Most recently, Hessler was chairman of 101communications, a Los Angeles media company built from 10 acquisitions in three countries. Hessler was previously president and CEO of utility-software maker Quarterdeck Corp., and chairman and CEO of I-Net Inc., a $400 million network-management-services company. At computing giant Unisys, Hessler served as vice chairman and executive vice president. He also has held senior positions at Times-Mirror Corp. and within the federal government. "IT sourcing is riddled with silent failures," Hessler said. "RampRate can help fix what's broken in IT services, where companies typically pay too much, outsource the wrong things, and don't get the service levels they need. RampRate's unique approach has changed the process for companies trying to save money and ensure high-quality IT service, making an opaque and headache-filled business more transparent. This is already an important company, and will only get more so as the IT industry discovers it." Early in his career, Hessler, a Rhodes Scholar, clerked for Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart and U.S. Appeals Court Judge J. Skelly Wright. He subsequently worked for prominent law firms Munger, Tolles & Olson and Paul Weiss Rifkind Wharton & Garrison. Hessler holds a Masters degree in Economics from the University of California at Berkeley, a Juris Doctorate from Yale Law School and a Bachelor's degree from Harvard. |
