Webmail.us Releases New Platform.
2006-08-17, HostMan.biz Webmail.us has released the fourth generation of its webmail platform with the goal of providing businesses an alternative to desktop email software. The new platform replaces legacy software with an AJAX framework that creates a markedly faster, better performing experience for webmail users. There are no additional fees for upgrading to the new webmail platform. “When we built our first generation webmail platform, the goal was to provide users with the ability to check email when they didn’t have access to their desktop email software, like Microsoft Outlook,” explained Patrick Matthews, chief executive officer of Webmail.us, Inc. “But now we see an increased demand from our customers for a web-based alternative to desktop email software, so we’re putting a lot of product development resources into creating an experience on the web that rivals the desktop.” The new webmail platform provides speed and performance improvements for all email-related aspects of webmail, including the calendar, task list manager, RSS feed reader, contact manager, and company directory. The company will continue to focus on the speed of webmail as well as the addition of new features released in a rapid fashion. “Providing an alternative to desktop email software has been the top priority for our product development team,” said Kevin Minnick, vice president of product development for Webmail.us. “Our customers need an email client that just works and doesn’t come with massive training requirements. Our webmail interface is simple and effective and keeps our customers productive.” Matthews also noted that “our customers tell us that speed and simplicity are what they really want and so that is where we will continue to focus our product development efforts as we build new features and services into webmail, like shared calendaring, for example.” Webmail.us has been experiencing rapid growth, adding more than 16,000 businesses to its email hosting system in the last twelve months. The company now hosts email for more than 23,000 businesses worldwide. |
