Dotster to Offer Domain at $1.
2006-07-25, HostMan.biz Dotster, Inc., one of the world's largest ICANN-accredited domain registration and web hosting companies, today announced its tenth virtual "Happy Hour" event scheduled for Wednesday, July 26, 2006. Beginning at 4:00 PM Eastern, visitors to www.dotster.com will receive a coupon code valid between July 27, 2006 and July 31, 2006. The coupon will allow customers to purchase any single, new .COM, .NET, or .ORG domain for one dollar. The event will be preceded by the infamous "Happy Hour Countdown Clock" on the homepage of www.dotster.com. The coupon system limits customers to one domain at the discounted rate. A total of 1,000 coupons will be available during the hour. The popular "Dollar Domain" event first made headlines in February when online bloggers leaked the details of the event and caused an unprecedented spike in website traffic for the six-year old domain registrar. Since then, Dotster's competitors have copied the marketing stunt, hosting their own low-priced virtual events. Dotster's Happy Hour event is designed to lower the barrier to entry for potential website builders. "With the price set at a dollar, there's very little risk in picking up that domain name you've been kicking around in your head," says Marci Hansen, Marketing Director for Dotster. "Some customers select domains I like to call 'oh-what-the-heck' names: things like happybirthdayjames.com and ducttapeandbubblegum.com." Dotster provides a full suite of Internet services to helps its customers turn their domain names into successful websites. Recently, the company added several new services to its core hosting suite, including MyInternet, a custom website design service and Local Site Promotion for regional businesses to effectively utilize search engines. |
