The 2006 American Business Awards ceremony was held on June 12 at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City. He was selected as the 2006 Best Turnaround Executive in recognition of his overall leadership of Network Solutions, and his commitment to customer service. The company says that after joining Network Solutions in 2001, Champ Mitchell drew upon his previous experience of turning around four companies. While in 2005, Mitchell set to focus the company around one clear vision - which had not existed at Network Solutions - to be recognized in helping small business customers use the Internet to build and grow their businesses. "In the last three years, we have successfully turned a one-time monopoly with plummeting sales into a growing company that is customer-centric and financially strong," said Champ Mitchell.
