Opalis to Extend Automation of Microsoft PowerShell.
2006-04-26, HostMan.biz Opalis Software, Inc., announced plans to extend the Microsoft PowerShell platform (formerly known as Microsoft Windows Monad) throughout the data center through a series of integrations. As innovators in data center automation, Opalis will extend the automation capabilities of PowerShell to both Microsoft and non-Microsoft products, such as system monitor, help desk, virtualization, and backup applications. Administrators can perform live interaction with these systems from the command line, regardless of platform, as well as through long-running automation policies via Opalis Integration Server. Opalis also announced the first of several PowerShell extensions, the Opalis PowerShell SnapIn for Microsoft Operations Manager 2005 (MOM), along with the Opalis PowerShell SnapIn for BMC Remedy Help Desk, both of which Opalis will be demonstrating this week at the Microsoft Management Summit in San Diego in booth #125. Through this integration, administrators can interact directly with Microsoft Operations Manager 2005 and BMC Remedy Help Desk, enabling connectivity between MOM and the PowerShell platform, without having to write code. "Opalis is pleased to provide the glue that connects Microsoft PowerShell to all the pieces of the data center," said Scott Broder, CEO of Opalis. "With PowerShell SnapIn for MOM 2005 and BMC Remedy Help Desk, UNIX administrators who often shy away from GUIs to perform tasks can now interact directly with MOM and BMC Remedy Help Desk, while never leaving the command line. Opalis takes care of the rest." Opalis Integration Server allows enterprises to automate IT operations and integrate the management tools and infrastructure components found in today's data center.
