IXEurope Connects Swiss Exchange Points.
2005-12-06, HostMan.biz European data center operator IXEurope (ixeurope.com) announced on Monday that it had deployed ethernet connectivity between its two Swiss-based Internet exchange points TiX and CiXP. IXEurope has deployed a ports-based VLAN trunk between TiX and CiXP, which handle 90 percent of Swiss Internet traffic and is home to over 70 ISPs. CiXP is housed in IXEurope's Geneva-based data center and TiX is dual-housed in two Zurich facilites. "As Switzerland's largest independent market place for exchanging Internet traffic, we're delighted to make these services available to our customers," says Guy Willner, CEO of IXEurope. "The new infrastructure is helping to fulfill industry demand to integrate peering connections and is beneficial to all members of the community, adding resilience and value in further developing the peering platform. The new services will help us to maintain our position at the forefront of the industry in Switzerland, and helps Switzerland to remain a strategic hub for the Internet in Europe." IXEurope recently expanded its data center footprint in London, UK. |
