Cisco Flaw Found, Reports Say.
2005-12-02, HostMan.biz According to reports, a flaw has been found in the Web server code of IOS, the software that supports Cisco's (cisco.com) networking devices. The vulnerability is caused by a failure of the memory dump feature of the HTTP server when it fails to properly sanitize the data in received packets before displaying them to the user in a HTML formatted page. Analysts say attackers can exploit the vulnerability to conduct script insertion attacks. The flaw affects Cisco IOS 10.x, Cisco IOS 11.x, Cisco IOS 12.x, Cisco IOS R11.x and Cisco IOS R12.x. Security organization Secunia (secunia.com) has rated the flaw "moderately critical". Cisco has said it is investigating the issue and will issue an advisory if necessary. |
