UK Sentences Spammer Weasel Boy.
2005-11-18, HostMan.biz A notorious spammer, responsible for some of the UK's most copious spamming attacks and domain name scams, has been sentenced to six years in jail after being found guilty of seven of the nine charges brought against him. Twenty-two-year-old Peter Francis-Macrae of St. Neots, Cambridgeshire, known as Weasel Boy, was found guilty on two out of four counts of making threats to kill, two of fraudulent trading, one of concealing criminal property, one charge of threatening to destroy or damage property and one count of blackmail. As the only UK resident on anti spam organization Spamhaus' register of known spam operators, Francis-Macrae allegedly profited an estimated £1.5 million through numerous domain registration scams. The judge handed down the six-year sentence on Wednesday afternoon, although police may bring further charges on Francis-Macrae in the future. |
