ERSI Selects Web Host AT&T.
2005-11-10, HostMan.biz AT&T (att.com) announced on Thursday that geographic information systems technology provider ERSI would deploy AT&T's utility computing service in support of its new Web-based applications. AT&T's utility computing is based on Sun Microsystems hardware, software and services. The hardware includes Sun Fire servers running Solaris. AT&T will host the infrastructure out of its Mesa, Arizona and Ashburn, Virginia data center facilities. Mike Tait, director of Internet solutions at ESRI, says the utility computing capabilities enable the company to outsource the systems to its own customers while scaling to meet growing demand. "AT&T is focused on providing our customers, like ESRI, value-added managed hosting services, such as the ability to pay as they go and to scale their IT resources as their businesses grow," says Mike Jenner, vice president of hosting and application management services for AT&T. "It's capabilities like this - offered with industry leaders like Sun - that help us enable our customers to easily and affordably manage their applications and better serve their end-users." |
