Apptix Buys Email Provider MailStreet . 2005-11-02, HostMan.biz Messaging and collaboration solutions provider Apptix (apptix.com) announced on Wednesday that it had acquired MailStreet, a provider of email solutions based on Microsoft Exchange. The company says the acquisition is part of its strategy to expand its product offerings and strengthen market share in the on-demand messaging and collaboration space. According to the agreement, Apptix will pay a total of $7 million for MailStreet - $4 million in cash upon closing and $3 million in cash or stock at Apptix's discretion one year after the deal is closed. MailStreet is currently generating a profit based on $350,000 of monthly revenue. The revenue mostly comes from sales of hosted Microsoft Exchange and complementary BlackBerry and Good Technology mobility services. MailStreet also provides antivirus, spam filtering and migration support. "The acquisition of MailStreet dramatically strengthens our position in the SMB on-demand market," says Amir Hudda, CEO of Apptix. "MailStreet's reputation for operational excellence and strong track record of growth in Web-based sales are perfect complements to our industry-leading service management platform and unmatched channel partner relationships." All 20 MailStreet employees, including CEO Don Dimon, and Jose Uribe, vice president of technology, will become employees of Apptix and remain in Florida.
