Web Host Verio Back Online After Outage.
2005-10-31, HostMan.biz Web hosting provider Verio (verio.com) is back online after Hurricane Wilma temporarily took the company's Florida-based data center offline early last week. Hurricane Wilma hit Florida last Monday morning at approximately 8:40 a.m. eastern standard time, interrupting electric service to homes and businesses. Verio's Florida facility was among the homes and businesses affected. As soon as power was cut off, the facility began running on five backup generators. However, they later failed, and the facility was forced to run off the battery backup until it was depleted. Verio then turned off its systems. By Tuesday morning at about 1:40 a.m. Verio had repaired the generators and began powering up the hosting systems at about 7:10 am. Then at 1:10 p.m. the same day, the power generator was down again, causing systems to go offline. The outage was not resolved until approximately 1:30 a.m. EST on Wednesday morning. |
