Singapore Bans Gay Web Site.
2005-10-28, HostMan.biz Singapore's media watchdog banned a gay Web site after receiving complaints that it was promoting homosexual lifestyles and allegedly recruiting underage boys for pornographic purposes, reports say. Singapore's Media Development Authority said in reports that the site violated Internet regulations prohibiting the advocacy of homosexuality and pedophilia. The site reportedly contained pornographic pictures, homosexual content focused on Singapore, advertisements for recruiting underage boys and listings providing locations for gay sex. The site, which is hosted outside the country, was also fined $5,000 Singaporean and ordered to remove the illegal content. Homosexuality is illegal in the Southeast Asian nation, which is notorious for its heavy-handed laws. |
