Web Host AIT Offers $39 Servers.
2005-10-26, HostMan.biz Web host provider AIT (ait.com) announced on Tuesday it is now offering a limited supply of dedicated servers for as low as $39 per month. The move is AIT's response to a trend that has seen some hosts move away from the self-managed end of dedicated hosting to seek the higher profit margins associated with fully-managed solutions. AIT recently released a line of Xeon-powered dedicated machines to cater to customers who want a higher-end system. "Our experience has been that the self-managed environment remains popular among developers and administrators who want to configure a machine to their liking and have the know-how to trouble-shoot most issues," says Clarence Briggs, AIT's chairman and CEO. The servers are powered by either Pentium or Celeron processors, and all machines include 512MB of RAM, 40GB of disk space and 2,000GB of data transfer. Users also get multiple IP addresses, root access, server-specific firewalls and other security measures, along with redundant OC-3 connectivity. AIT provides a per-incident support structure for self-managed servers. |
