CA, Sun Expand Support for Solaris 10.
2005-10-26, HostMan.biz Computer Associates (ca.com) and Sun Microsystems (sun.com) said on Wednesday that they would collaborate to expand support for the Solaris 10 operating system. According to the agreement, CA will port the Unicenter and BrightStor solutions to the Solaris 10 Operating System for x64, x86 and 64-bit platforms. CA's Unicenter suite of network and systems management solutions will exploit key features of the Solaris 10 operating system, including Solaris containers and dynamic tracing, to optimize data center efficiency and operations. UnicenterAutoSys Job Management will include support for scheduling applications running on the Solaris 10 OS for x86 platforms. In addition, CA will extend support in BrightStor ARCserve Backup, BrightStor Storage Resource Manager and BrightStor SAN Manager for the Sun StorEdge 6130 system. "Creating an IT infrastructure that is efficient, maximizes available resources and minimizes total cost of ownership is a significant challenge for most enterprises today. Sun and CA are delivering solutions that enable our joint customers to take advantage of the price/performance benefits of Sun's Sun Fire x64 servers and CA's widely adopted systems management solutions," says Steve Borcich, vice president of partner marketing at Sun Microsystems. "These solutions will further support the continued momentum we're seeing with 3 million Solaris 10 licenses, two-thirds of which are on x86 and x64 platforms." |
