HP Buys Blade Server Firm RLX. 2005-10-03, HostMan.biz Hewlett-Packard (hp.com) announced on Monday that it signed a definitive agreement to acquire blade server management solution vendor RLX Technologies. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. HP says the acquisition of RLX's Linux-based management software suite will help the company manage blade server environments, moving it closer to its vision for a unified infrastructure management solution across both the Linux and Windows platforms. "With Linux's expansion into blade server environments, customers want tools that deliver simpler and more robust management," says Rick Becker, vice president and general manager of HP BladeSystem. "Following our recently announced acquisitions of AppIQ and Peregrine Systems, RLX represents another step in HP's expanding enterprise management capabilities to help enterprise and small and medium business customers simplify their IT environments and cut costs." RLX has 36 employees and approximately 200 customers. The deal is subject to certain closing conditions and HP expects it to be complete within approximately 30 days. RLX will be fully integrated into HP's Technology Solutions Group after the transaction is complete.
