Microsoft Completes FrontBridge Buy.
2005-09-01, HostMan.biz Microsoft (microsoft.com) said on Wednesday that it had completed its acquisition of FrontBridge, a provider of managed services for email security, compliance and continuity. FrontBridge is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Microsoft. No financial terms were disclosed. Microsoft says the acquisition will help customers enforce compliance through archiving, ensure email availability in the case of disasters and improve virus and spam protection. "We are really excited about finalizing this acquisition so we can bring the FrontBridge team and their advanced services technology into Exchange," says Dave Thompson, corporate vice president of the Exchange Server Group at Microsoft. "This acquisition marks an important step forward in Microsoft's commitment to providing customers with greater flexibility and choice in how their messaging and collaboration solutions are delivered." FrontBridge will continue to offer managed messaging services for SMTP-compliant servers it currently supports, in addition to Microsoft Exchange and IBM Lotus Domino. |
