Flaws Found in Cisco Security Products.
2005-08-24, HostMan.biz Cisco (cisco.com) said earlier this week that hackers could exploit flaws in two of its security products to gain control over systems. The two products are CiscoWorks Management Center for IDS Sensors and Monitoring Center for Security. Cisco says hackers could spoof a Cisco Intrusion Detection Sensor or Cisco Intrusion Prevention System by taking advantage of a vulnerability in the SSL certificate checking functions of both products. If successful, attackers could obtain login credentials, submit false data to IDSMC and Secmon and filter legitimate data from IDSMC and Secmon, impacting the integrity and reporting capabilities of the device, Cisco says. IDSMC version 2.0 and 2.1, as well as CiscoWorks Monitoring Center for Security version 1.1 through version 2.0 and version 2.1 are affected. Cisco has released software to resolve the problem, available online. |
