Sun to Open Data Center in Europe .
2005-08-03, HostMan.biz Within the next few months Sun Microsystems (sun.com) will open a data center in Scotland to remotely manage customer systems, reports say. Don Grantham, executive vice president of Sun Services said the move builds on the acquisition last November of SevenSpace, a remote management and monitoring service provider. Sun now monitors over 100 data centers from the SevenSpace facility in Virginia. Grantham says the company is transitioning from reactive to proactive monitoring services, with the ultimate goal of providing IT as a service via computing grids. Sun is also reportedly considering a similar facility in either China or India, which would open somewhere between 12 and 18 months from now. |
