Comodo Unveils NOC Monkey.
2005-08-02, HostMan.biz Comodo (comodogroup.com) announced on Tuesday that its Web hosting automation software division Positive Software (psoft.net) had released NOC Monkey, a remote server provisioning application designed to streamline operating costs for Web hosts. NOC Monkey, designed to automate server provisioning through a Web-based interface, enables system administrators to remotely install, deploy and recover operating systems, change root passwords, run fsck in single user mode, recover hacked servers and custom partition hard disks. NOC Monkey features administration and user level access, and a new "grab/install" system that adapts to various operating system and hardware configurations by auto detecting new servers. The company says NOC Monkey enables data center administrators and Web hosts to realize significant cost savings on the expensive physical process of provisioning and administering servers. "Apart from automating serving provisioning, NOC Monkey extends the value proposition that Web hosting companies can offer their customers," says Igor Seletskiy, technical director of Positive Software. "By enabling the creation of custom partitions Web hosts can easily modify server partitions upon request - a service not traditionally offered by Web hosts due to it's time consuming nature." Another benefit, the company says, are the improved customer response times. With the ability to store multiple server profiles and OS configurations, Web hosts can respond faster, deploying on the fly. "We have developed the 'server vending machine' – hosts can literally press a button to deploy their flavor of server to answer the demands of the customer," says Seletskiy. "There is now a low cost means for data center operators to slash overheads, increase efficiency and provisioning speeds whilst extending functionality and adding to their customer value proposition."
