Domain Pricing Steady, Netcraft Says.

According to research and analysis firm Netcraft (netcraft.com), Global Name Registry's (nic.name) offer of a free 60-day trial on .name domains was the only major pricing change in a month when .com domain retail prices held steady after falling for several months.
In July, Canadian Web host Netfirms had the lowest retail domain price of $4.95. 1&1 Internet, Hostway and Interland followed with prices of $5.99, $6.95 and $7.95 respectively. According to Netcraft's data, AITDomains, Yahoo! and Go Daddy were selling domains at $7.99, $9.20 and $9.95.
Web hosts have been dropping domain name prices steadily, using them as an incentive to attract hosting customers. The continued losses however, have pushed some hosts such as EV1Servers and The Planet to reduce the financial burden by becoming ICANN-accredited registrars.
