Microsoft Buys FrontBridge Technologies.
2005-07-22, HostMan.biz Software giant Microsoft (microsoft.com) announced on Thursday that it would acquire FrontBridge Technologies, a provider of managed services for email security, compliance and continuity. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. With FrontBridge, Microsoft says it will introduce a service for enforcing compliance through archiving, minimizing spam and viruses, and ensuring email availability in the case of a disaster. Microsoft and FrontBridge partners, including Hosted Exchange partners, will now be able to offer these services. "Our commitment to listening and responding to customers really drove the union with FrontBridge, because both companies are focused on solving the same difficult messaging challenge - ensuring customers' email is compliant, better protected from spam and virus threats, and always available, even in the case of unforeseeable disaster," says Dave Thompson, corporate vice president of the Exchange Server Group at Microsoft. Microsoft says the acquisition will be a key part of its plan to help customers protect their messaging infrastructures while meeting the requirements of regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA, and SEC 17A and NASD 3010 and 3011 for financial service companies. "Microsoft's leadership position with Exchange Server, in combination with our managed services, will be able to deliver the comprehensive and highly secure messaging environment customers require while also offering new and future opportunities to partners," says Steve Jillings, president and chief executive officer of FrontBridge Technologies. |
