The Planet Joins Attack Info Alliance.
2005-07-15, HostMan.biz Web hosting provider The Planet Internet Services (theplanet.com) announced on Thursday that it had joined the Fingerprint Sharing Alliance, an initiative between Arbor Networks (arbornetworks.com) and various other telecommunications carriers, ISP and Web hosts that enables network operators to share information about Internet attacks in real time. Through the alliance, attack information is shared via secure communications channels on an automated basis. The system is an automated update of past practices, which relied on informal party-to-party communication by email or phone. The Planet says its membership will enable it to stop attacks faster and closer to their point of entry, providing protection for its hosting customers. "A security alliance of this scale is unprecedented," says Ben Bradberry, vice president of information security at The Planet. "By joining forces with Arbor Networks and this impressive list of alliance partners, The Planet is better equipped to protect our customers from malicious online attacks." |
