Chinese Bank Picks Cisco, IBM for IDC.
2005-07-14, HostMan.biz Cisco Systems (cisco.com) announced on Thursday that the Agricultural Bank of China had selected Cisco as the networking solution provider for its data center in Beijing and brought IBM (ibm.com) on board to help it integrate data sources across the country as it prepares to open a data center in Shanghai. Through its Business Ready Data Center initiative, Cisco is providing consolidation, business continuity, disaster recovery, data and storage networking, data center interconnection, network system intelligence, and embedded application and storage services. IBM is providing its On Demand Operating Environment initiative, which is designed to reduce data center operating expenses, improve application performance and enable faster delivery of services and applications by unifying IT and networking infrastructures. "Teaming up with IBM from the very beginning helped ensure a thorough understanding of ABC's requirements," says Raymond Lau, vice president of Cisco Systems China. "Taking advantage of the strengths of both company’s solution and resources will help drive project success from the initial planning stage through to the implementation and maintenance stages. Cisco values the working relationship we have forged with the ABC, and looks forward to more opportunities to use our experience in serving global financial institutions in the advancement of China's banking industry." Cisco was also the primary networking equipment vendor for the establishment of the bank’s backbone network and sub-branch networks. |
