Data Center Outage Disrupts News Sites.
2005-07-07, HostMan.biz The hosting facility of news organization Advance Internet suffered a power outage that disrupted the Web sites for its more than 30 newspapers, according to a report by research and analysis firm Netcraft (netcraft.com). Affected sites included NJ.com, Michigan Live, Cleveland.com, The Portland Oregonian, The New Orleans Times-Picayune and the online classifieds sites BestLocalJobs.com and Best LocalAutos.com. The sites moved to text-based publishing, Netcraft reported, but online ads could not be displayed during the disruption. Netcraft said the outage began on Tuesday evening at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time and hit the hosting facility in Jersey City's Journal Square. The local power company said the outage was the result of three underground circuits malfunctioning. |
