Qwest Eyeing XO, Reports Say .
2005-06-08, HostMan.biz Qwest Communications (qwest.com) has entered into talks with XO Communications (xo.com) after coming up short in its attempt to acquire telecommunications giant MCI (mci.com), according to reports. XO sells voice and data services to businesses and has a significant Web hosting portfolio highlighted by the Concentric (concentric.com) shared Web hosting division. Qwest has been determined to acquire a significant telecommunications asset because it is concerned it will have difficulty staying independent as the industry continues to consolidate. Last year, XO outbid Qwest for long-distance carrier Allegiance Telecom. Qwest and XO have declined to comment on the matter. |
