Web Host Vericenter Acquires Agiliti. 2005-04-11, HostMan.biz Minnesota tech firm Agiliti (agiliti.com), which specialized in dot com services and data hosting, has been purchased by Web hosting provider Vericenter (vericenter.com). According to company officials, Vericenter will take over Agiliti’s data center in St. Paul, including most of its 65-person staff. Agiliti CEO Tom Kieffer will join Vericenter’s board of directors. Kieffer, with a team of 10 other Agiliti employees has created a new professional services company called Vertiva. Vericenter says its purchase of Agiliti is the latest step in its growth plan. The company took a huge leap in 2002 after its purchase of Sprint’s hosting division. In addition to the Agiliti facility, Vericenter owns six data centers in Atlanta, Boston, Denver, Dallas and Houston. "Agiliti is almost a mirror image of what VeriCenter was two-and-a-half years ago," said Jennifer Lozier, VeriCenter's director of marketing. "We have very similar business models and methods, the same sort of customers. Acquiring them allows us to quickly scale our business." Under the terms of the agreement, privately-held investors in Agiliti will be issued preferred stock by Vericenter. The company will also assume Agiliti's outstanding debt. The total size of the purchase was not disclosed.
