Opsware Integrates with Micromuse.
2005-03-24, HostMan.biz Data center automation software developer Opsware (opsware.com) and business service and assurance software developer Micromuse (micromuse.com) announced on Wednesday that the Opsware Network Automation System had been certified and integrated with Micromuse's Netcool solution, a move the companies say will create a complete automation and monitoring solution for IT networks. Netcool consolidates operations and manages IT infrastructure, providing realtime views of networks, systems and applications. The solution is also equipped with metrics that enable users to assess the reliability and availability of business services. Opsware's automation system automatically makes and tracks changes throughout data center infrastructures across routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers in realtime. "The ability to dynamically and rapidly adjust to change is a fundamental requirement for building a utility computing infrastructure," says Eric Johnson, vice president of development at Opsware. "The strength of Micromuse's infrastructure management combined with Opsware's award winning network automation helps customers build a fully automated, on-demand environment that dramatically reduces IT operational costs." The companies say the integration enables Opsware's Network Automation System to send notifications regarding device configuration change, device diagnostic, configuration policy violation, and user authentication error directly to the Netcool database. This information is then correlated with other event data collected by Netcool and made available to IT administrators though Netcool's interface. "Through our partnership with Opsware, we are delivering a powerful set of proven capabilities for customers who are beginning to execute against their utility computing initiatives," says Dr. Craig Farrell, CTO of Micromuse. "Both Micromuse and Opsware have an established base of customers who are achieving real cost savings today based on their ability to more accurately monitor performance and automate the management of network devices.
