Novell Launches Data Center Program.

Linux distributor Novell (novell.com) announced on Monday that it had launched the Novell Validated Configuration Program, an initiative the company says is designed to reduce the risks of deploying Linux solutions in data centers.
The Novell Validated Configuration Program focuses on defining and certifying multi-application, integrated application and platform stacks on Linux. It develops fully tested and integrated configurations that address enterprise business problems and provide Novell customers with the technical and business details for modeling and accelerating Linux deployments. Business areas covered in the program include security, high availability, virtualization, systems management and monitoring, and application hosting. It also supports high performance computing architectures for large-scale transaction processing environments.
"With support from key hardware and software partners, Novell will develop, test and validate multiple configurations for different enterprise needs in security, systems management and more," says David Patrick, vice president and general manager of Linux open source platforms and services for Novell. "This is another step in Novell's strategy to increase adoption and acceptance of Linux at the heart of the enterprise."
