Globix Hosts Webcast of Jewish Ceremony.
2005-03-17, HostMan.biz Web hosting and network services provider Globix Corporation (globix.com) said on Thursday that it had hosted an international webcast of the Jewish celebration Siyum Hashas from New York City. Reaching countries as far away as China, Poland and Australia, Globix used Madison Square Garden's live broadcast transmission over a fiber optic video network, and then encoded the feeds at their Manhattan headquarters. "A webcast for such a large event shows how our capabilities can easily extend the reach to multiple geographic venues worldwide," says Ed Warner, general manager of Globix Media Services. "This event also illustrates how webcasting can be used as an important audio and visual communications platform for major announcements and worldwide functions." In preparation for the event, Globix conducted extensive testing and implementation of the webcast. The company also met with Agudath Israel's numerous outlets to determine which audio and video parameters were most compatible. |
