AOL Renews Deal for HP Support Services.
2005-03-09, HostMan.biz Hewlett-Packard (hp.com) announced on Wednesday that America Online (aol.com), as part of a three-year agreement, had selected it to provide integrated support services for server and storage equipment from HP and other vendors in select AOL data centers in the US. The agreement extends an existing one-year contract. HP will manage support for more than 15,000 servers from multiple vendors. Approximately 9,000 of these systems are HP servers, including HP Integrity servers with Intel Itanium 2 processors and HP 9000, HP ProLiant and HP NonStop servers, in addition to HP workstations. HP says its integrated services are part of AOL's efforts to improve business agility and streamline the management of its technology environment. AOL says flexible pricing and the preference for a single point of contact for support services were key factors in its decision to extend its agreement with HP. "AOL already had a sophisticated technology infrastructure in place, but it wanted to consolidate support contracts from different vendors to manage its server environment at strict service levels, under one service agreement," says Mike Rigodanzo, senior vice president of technology services for HP. "This relationship with HP will give AOL more streamlined service delivery, while providing clear savings and achieving simplification, standardization and modularity in its IT environment. These are the building blocks of an Adaptive Enterprise." |
