Acronis, MySQL Partner for Backup.
2005-03-02, HostMan.biz Acronis (acronis.com), a developer of storage management solutions, announced on Monday that it has partnered with open source database developer MySQL (mysql.com) for backup and disaster recovery. Under the partnership, Acronis's True Image will become the first MySQL Network certified solution for bare metal restore and backup, and MySQL AB will standardize on Acronis True Image for its own internal IT disaster recovery and restore systems. "Acronis recognizes that data is the fuel that energizes corporations," says Max Tsypliaev, CEO of Acronis. "Knowing that both MySQL AB and their database customers will be able to continue operating with minimal interruption is gratifying. Not only may MySQL Network customers use Acronis True Image for their database backup and disaster recovery needs, but MySQL AB uses it internally as well. Here's a company that recognizes that what’s good for its customers is good for itself too." Kaj Arnö, vice president for internal IT strategy and implementation at MySQL, said MySQL selected Acronis's True image based on its superior features, ease of use and support for both the Windows and Linux platforms. "Acronis's partnership with MySQL offers unique value as Acronis True Image is the only bare-metal restore solution available for backing up mission critical MySQL databases on both Linux and Windows platforms," says Ethan O’Rafferty, director of US alliances for MySQL. "Customers looking to reduce risk while implementing an open source software stack can use Acronis True Image for backup, which has been tested to be MySQL Network Certified." |
