The Apache Project, the open source software development project that produces the Apache Web server, celebrated its 10-year anniversary over the weekend. Apache's market share rose from 68.83 percent to 69.19 percent, while Microsoft lost 0.30 percentage points, dropping from 20.85 percent to 20.55 percent. Sun lost 0.07 percentage points, declining to 3.104 percent and Zeus lost 0.04 percentage points, leaving its market share at 1.01 percent. Apache has made significant gains in 2005, according to Netcraft's data. In February, Apache gained 0.40 percent market share after adding 0.59 percent in January. Netcraft's monthly Web server survey measures Web server software usage on all Internet connected computers. The March 2005 survey received responses from 60,442,655 sites.
