HP Launches Storage Software Suite.

Hewlett-Packard (hp.com) announced on Thursday that it has launched HP Storage Essentials, a suite of storage resource management software that bridges server and storage management islands in data center facilities, helping reduce software costs, simplify IT administration and improve control for the Adaptive Enterprise.
HP says the software virtualizes and automates server and storage management, enabling customers to swiftly shift resources and capacity. These are the key elements of the Adaptive Enterprise strategy, the company says, which is designed to help business and IT synchronize in order to capitalize on change. The software is also capable of improving application infrastructure monitoring and provides the ability to quickly align storage tiers with user needs, HP says.
"Simply put, HP is changing the economics of management in the data center by eliminating the management islands. Because we deliver basic infrastructure management with HP servers, blade systems and storage platforms, customers can start their journey to the Adaptive Enterprise without a large investment," says Bob Schultz, senior vice president and general manager of the StorageWorks division at HP. "And, by unifying server and storage management, HP enables customers to simplify their IT environments without sacrificing control."
