REI Selects Mirror Image Internet.
2005-02-22, HostMan.biz Content delivery network operator Mirror Image Internet (mirror-image.com) announced on Tuesday that it added Recreational Equipment, a national retail cooperative providing outdoor gear and clothing, as a new customer. First deployed to accommodate the traffic spikes of the holiday shopping season, REI chose Mirror Image in order to ensure the performance, capacity and availability of its online properties. REI, which serves approximately 1.5 million customers per month, reported a 40 percent increase in traffic during the holidays without any interruptions or glitches. "It is critical that we provide our valued customers with a high-quality shopping experience whether they are on REI.com buying products or gifts, or researching their options before heading to one of our stores," says Jason Madlung, online operations manager at REI. "We chose Mirror Image because it takes the worry out of Web site performance and reliability, allowing us to focus on driving revenues throughout the year." Mirror Image recently partnered with Macromedia to release the Macromedia Flash Video Streaming Service. "Mirror Image helps retail customers, such as REI, successfully compete in the growing online retailing market by providing the capacity they need to consistently deliver a superior online shopping experience to consumers," says Jeffrey Schutzman, vice president of global sales and marketing, Mirror Image.
