ISP Shuts Down Site with Offensive Game.
2005-02-18, HostMan.biz A Hungarian Web site hosting a game in which players were asked to purge the country of Gypsies has been shut down after protests, according to reports this week by Gypsy media organization Roma Press Center. The game's objective, reports say, was to kill all Gypsies in a given country, transforming it into a purely "white" nation. The game was discovered by staff members at Hungarian Gypsy radio station Radio C, who reportedly complained to the Web site's Internet service provider. The site was subsequently shut down. More than 4,000 people visited the site within its few days of operation. An estimated 500,000 Gyspies live in Hungary, most of whom live in poverty and endure widespread discrimination. The report did not reveal the indentity of the Internet service provider hosting the site. |
