XO Launches New VoIP Service Bundles.
2005-02-01, HostMan.biz Internet service and Web hosting provider XO Communications (xo.com) announced on Monday that it plans to launch XOptions Flex, a bundled voice over IP solution offering unlimited local and long distance calling for a single flat monthly rate. The bundled service also includes bandwidth allocation, voice virtual private networking and Web hosting. Additional voice lines, hosting and other applications can be added on an a la carte basis, XO said. The company says it is the only carrier focused on offering unlimited VoIP over its own IP network. XO began bundling communication services back in 2000 when it launched XOptions, a business package that combined local and long distance Internet access and Web hosting for a monthly flat rate on a single bill. "XOptions Flex takes our industry-leading bundled services offering to the next level by leveraging IP technology to provide our customers with more advanced features and capabilities," says Craig Collins, vice president of product management at XO Communications. "While traditional services assign fixed capacity for voice and data traffic, XOptions Flex will allow the full use of the IP circuit to support data traffic when voice lines are idle. When there are voice calls, voice traffic will always have priority. In this way, businesses get maximum utilization and value from their integrated access circuit while ensuring the highest quality of service for voice calls." XO's Xoption Flex leverages technology from VoIP technology developers Sonus Networks and BroadSoft. |
