ICANN Meeting 2005 Set For Vancouver.
2005-01-22, HostMan.biz Internet authorities worldwide will be converge on Vancouver, BC later this year for the annual Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (icann.com) conference. The event, which will take place from Nov 30 to Dec 4, 2005 at the Westin Bayshore, will be co-hosted by Leading Edge BC and CircleID. The meeting's open forum draws world government and business leaders, among Internet users and technology experts from around the world. Vinton Cerf, ICANN chairman and widely thought of as the father of the Internet, is expected to address the conference. "Through our work to bridging the Digital Divide, BC has sent a clear signal of our commitment to harness the power and potential of the Internet for the benefit of all British Columbians," said Premier Gordon Campbell. "I applaud Leading Edge BC and CircleID for their initiative in bringing this meeting to BC." This is the first time Canada has hosted ICANN's annual meeting. Due to Vancouver's location on the profitable West Coast Technology Corridor, the meeting is expected to draw over 1,500 delegates from more than 100 countries. |
